Remembrance Day at Borders Crematorium

Borders Crematorium is holding a special Open Chapel event on Saturday 9 November to mark Remembrance Day.

The event will take place between 10am and 12noon and offers an opportunity to spend time in the chapel for a quiet moment of reflection.

Flowers will be available for people to take away and enjoy at home or place at a loved one’s memorial within the crematorium’s grounds.

Visitors will also be able to write a letter or card which can be placed into the crematorium’s Letters to Loved Ones memorial post box.

No booking is required for anyone to attend the Open Chapel event.

Borders Crematorium is part of  Westerleigh Group, one of the UK’s largest independent owners and operators of cemeteries and crematoria, with 40 sites in England, Scotland, and Wales, all set within beautifully landscaped gardens of remembrance which provide peaceful places for people to visit and reflect.

Crematorium Manager Jane Crawley said: “Honouring lives of people who have passed on is a big part of what we do here and it feels fitting that we should commemorate Remembrance Day.

“As a nation, it’s important that we never forget those who gave their lives for us.

“Everyone is welcome to join us at our open chapel event to reflect on and remember those who fought and died in the armed forces.”
